NSEA represents school librarians and library assistants who play a vital role in supporting students, teachers, and the entire school community by promoting literacy, research skills, and access to information. School libraries provide a broad range of materials representing different perspectives, cultures, and ideas, fostering inclusivity and critical thinking.
Unfortunately, AB416 is necessary to safeguard intellectual freedom. Students should be able to access a wide range of ideas, perspectives, and information at school. Restricting materials limits their ability to think critically and form their own opinions. As censorship efforts have targeted materials about marginalized communities, it is important for Nevada to respect and affirm diversity by ensuring a variety of cultures, experiences, and viewpoints are represented in the materials taught to students. NSEA asks for your support of AB416.
