This amendment would delete the following language in section 2 of the bill…
"except that the Commission shall not require a teacher to obtain an endorsement to teach music to be eligible to teach music at an elementary school in a school district in which fewer than 200,000 pupils are enrolled"
Students across Nevada deserve high-quality music instruction. Teachers with strong musical knowledge can explain concepts clearly, demonstrate techniques accurately, and guide students through complex material with confidence. Music education involves theory, performance, history, and composition. A knowledgeable teacher can help students develop skills across these areas.
NSEA believes music education is important across Nevada school districts, and we ask the legislature to amend SB400 to reflect this.
