NSEA Applauds Today’s Bold Action Challenging the Adequacy of Education Funding in Nevada.

On March 4, 2020, Educate Nevada Now (ENN) filed an adequacy lawsuit against the state of Nevada.
Published: March 4, 2020

We are grateful to our colleagues at Educate Nevada Now (ENN) for their steadfast advocacy and to the plaintiffs, all public school parents and some public school educators, for standing up for every Nevada student.

NSEA has consistently called out the chronic underfunding of Nevada schools and has worked to address this issue.

We agree that the state has fallen egregiously short of the sufficiency required by the Nevada Constitution. Year after year, Nevada ranks near the bottom of states in most education metrics, from large class sizes to low overall performance.

Every Nevada student deserves access to a high-quality public education, but this unfortunately is not the case for far too many of our kids. NSEA looks forward to submitting an amicus brief in support of this lawsuit and continuing our part in a broad and sustained effort to improve Nevada’s public schools.
