“The Nevada State Education Association proudly stood with Aaron Ford since the beginning of this race, and we won for our students and educators,” said Dawn Etcheverry, President of the Nevada State Education Association.
“Joe Lombardo’s allies spent millions to defeat him, but the number that mattered most to Nevada educators was $2, Lombardo’s increase to per-pupil funding during the 2025 Legislative Session. Nevada’s schools remain roughly $4,000 per pupil below the national average, with the largest class sizes in the nation. Educators understood that funding public education is a responsibility every year, not a one-time campaign accomplishment to coast on for four years.”
“With Governor Ford, Nevada will now have a Governor who has taught in a classroom and understands what our students need and deserve,” said Brian Wallace, Vice President of the Nevada State Education Association.
“He will champion the investments our students deserve, including smaller class sizes, school meals, and real accountability for public dollars.”
Today, NSEA and our allies celebrate. Tomorrow, we focus on the 2027 Legislative Session. We look forward to working with Governor Ford and all the newly elected and re-elected legislators to implement the Commission on School Funding’s recommendations for optimal funding. NSEA will continue to reject public subsidies for pet projects that divert resources from our chronically underfunded schools.
Our students and educators deserve sustained investment, and we will hold all elected officials accountable for delivering it. Seriously, Pass The Plan.
