Signature Gathering to Begin!
We need your help!
NSEA won the latest battle of the petition at the district court level with a ruling from Judge Shearing saying the re-filed petition did not violate the single subject rule. With this ruling, we are ready to move forward with signature gathering.
Close to 20,000 petitions were mailed to our members who are registered to vote. Everyone who receives the mailer should:
1. Sign the petition
2. Get other registered voters to sign
3. Have the petition notarized
4. Return the petition to NSEA
If you will sign the petition and ask your family and friends who are registered to vote to sign it also, we will make enormous strides in getting the required number of signatures to qualify this petition so it can go on the ballot in November. Our deadline to turn in signatures is May 20, so we are asking that you act on this immediately. For more information on how you can help click here.
Can we do this? Can we collect over 58,000 signatures by May 20? The answer rests partly with you.
If you need a copy of the petition, would like to sign up to volunteer, or need further information please visit the SOS website.

Victory for WESP
The newest affiliate of NSEA, the Washoe Education Support Professionals (WESP), cleared a major legal hurdle last week with a ruling from the Nevada Supreme Court. The Court dismissed an appeal from the former parent group of WESP claiming that their disaffiliation vote was illegal. WESP members voted overwhelmingly in November of 2004 to leave the Nevada Classified School Employees Association and join NSEA. NCSEA filed suit in District Court where they lost.
