Intergenerational Mentoring Program to Attract and Retain Teachers

IMPART is an NSEA Retired program dedicated to connecting NSEA retired educators and education student members in an effort to support each other, share ideas, and stay involved in the profession of educating our future generations.

is a value added benefit for the university teacher candidates who are current student members of the Nevada State Education Association Student Program (NSEA SP) organization. Participation is voluntary. The amount of involvement is a decision made by the mentor/mentee based on need, time and desire.

IMPART differs from employer mentorship programs because this nurturing and supportive relationship is self-directed by the mentor/mentee. IMPART mentors are not employed by the school district or university, but rather they are non-evaluative volunteers dedicated to sharing their knowledge, guidance, experience and expertise with future educators.

• To encourage student commitment to teacher preparation program
• To retain novice and developing educators in the teaching profession
• To utilize the knowledge and expertise of retired educators in order to nurture and support future and new teachers
• To provide an mentor not involved in the evaluation process
