Are you a Nevada high school graduate or public school employee needing assistance to continue your education or further your career? The NSEA Reach for the Stars Scholarship is here to assist you reach your dreams!
NSEA is proud to announce the 2012 Reach for the Stars Scholarship! This nontraditional scholarship will honor people who are Nevada public school graduates or are Nevada public school employees who may not be eligible for other scholarships. The NSEA recognizes the value of education for everyone and knows that inspired and inspiring students don't always have a traditional profile.
The NSEA Reach for the Stars Scholarship is open to all high school seniors and to all public school employees. This program will recognize individuals whose values and personal qualities set them apart from others, who may have had to overcome significant challenges, and who may have a need for financial assistance.
Reach for the Stars Scholarships will be awarded to four people who wish to further their education. Three recipients will be high school seniors, one who will be entering a 4-year institution, another who will be entering a community college, and a third who will be entering a trade/vocational school. A fourth recipient will be a public school employee who will continue their education in either a 4-year institution, community college, trade/vocational school, or a graduate school. Each scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2500. Applications must be submitted to NSEA by February 17, 2012.
Reach for the Stars Criteria Options
I - Graduate from a Nevada public high school:
- Official high school transcripts
- Letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment to a licensed or accredited post-secondary institution
- Essay (See application for details)
- Activities and Interest form
- Two letters of recommendation
II - Current public school employee:
- Proof of employment in a Nevada school district
- Letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment to a licensed or accredited post-secondary institution
- Essay (See application for details)
- Resume
- Two letters of recommendation (one letter must be provided by an NSEA member)
