PEBP Increases Rates for 2009
On March 13, 2008, the Public Employee’s Benefits Program Board voted to increase the 2009 rates for all active and retired non-state employees. Depending on your years of service and number of dependants, your rate may have increased as much as $100 a month. Click the following links to find documents that will relate to exactly how much you can expect to pay next year.
In addition, these rates do not apply to those who are in a health trust that was collectively bargained. For those members who are in that situation, the pertinent lawsuit has not yet been settled. We do expect a ruling soon and will update you as soon as more information becomes available.
When taking a composite view of each eligible group, the Board raised the rate for active members and pre-Medicare retirees by an average of 36.9%. Those members who receive Medicare benefits however, had their rates lowered by an average 34.5%. Again, to find out your exact rate increase/decrease please see the attached tables.
NOTE: For those members who have a spouse that is also eligible for PEBP, by law you are not allowed to take them as a dependant. Both you and your spouse must elect to be the primary holder in order to be eligible to participate in the program.
